Writing Guidelines

Fred Hutch’s Marketing & Communications Department has developed resources to guide written communications for our audiences across marketing materials, websites and other content.

Brand Voice and Messaging

This is a shared resource for all those who shape Fred Hutch’s verbal and written communications, both formally and informally. It is designed to clarify and amplify what Fred Hutch stands for, how we are different, and why audiences should choose us.

Organization Name and Descriptions

Our name is the first touch point in keeping our brand clear and consistent. These guidelines outline how we refer to our organization and includes descritpions designed for high‑level, introductory moments. Together, they support clear, consistent recognition across audiences.

Editorial and Language Standards

For a general audience, Fred Hutch uses the Associated Press Stylebook for rules of grammar, punctuation and word usage. A Brand Writing Style Guide with Fred Hutch-specific adaptations is available as well as audience specific style guides. Use these resources to maintain brand consistency across all communications and materials.
