The Fred Hutch Cancer Center logo is the visual symbol that quickly helps people connect what they are seeing, hearing or experiencing as being related to our organization. These repeated independent encounters combine to create brand recognition and, over time, help create a powerful attachment to our brand.
It is important to use the Fred Hutch logo correctly to build consistent strength and equity in our brand across all communication and marketing materials. Maintaining this visual attention to detail mirrors the extreme level of precision that underpins everything we do at Fred Hutch. For additional questions or logos, contact brand@fredhutch.org.
History and Symbolism
Our logo design was thoughtfully developed. The individual color and shape elements pay subtle homage to our legacy organizations. However, the combined composition of the logo communicates what our unified organization represents:
- The arrow “breaking away” from the base shape symbolizes that, by coming together, we are accelerating our impact, and helping people break free from devastating diseases.
- There is a hidden H in the negative space created by the launching arrow. This represents all that we don’t yet know about curing cancer and other diseases, but that we believe will be discovered by Fred Hutch to provide Hope for people today and in the future.
- The multiple colors are a nod to our commitment to welcoming all, and show these colors and shapes aligning to move us both forward and upward.
Primary and Stacked Logos
Primary
The full-color horizontal logo is the preferred logo to be used in print and digital materials. This layout provides optimal readability and brand recognition.
This logo is to be applied on a white background only.
Stacked
Use this vertical version only when space constraints make the horizontal logo impractical.
Reversed
Reverse Primary White
The reverse primary white logo is to be used on dark navy, black or dark backgrounds.
Reverse Stacked White
The reverse stacked white logo is to be used on dark navy, black or dark background.
One Color
One Color - Navy
The one color navy logo is to be used on gray or white background or when only one spot color is permitted.
One Color - Black
Use this version when black is the only available color or in select digital usage alongside other company logos where gray scale is requested.
Download Fred Hutch Logos
Official Fred Hutch logos are available to download for both print and digital materials below.
Clear space is the area around a logo that is free of other elements, such as text, graphics, or photos, to maximize its visual impact. It's also the minimum distance a logo can be from the edges of a printed or digital document.
For both orientations, maintain a clear space that is equal to the width of one of the “F’s” in the Fred Hutch logotype. No text, graphics or other elements should be placed within this designated area to ensure optimal logo visibility and impact.
Our minimum logo size requirements and recommendations for letter documents (8.5 x 11 in) are below. The minimum size should only be applied in space-limited environments, for use in sponsorship credits or as an additional logo in documents. As the document size grows, the logo size should increase proportionately, ensuring a consistent and professional appearance.

Our identity is part of a system. Maintaining consistency in the way the Fred Hutch logo is displayed is essential to preserving a strong brand identity.
In December 2022, we refined our logo system to enhance readability and simplify the design. Key updates included:
- Enlarging the "Cancer Center" text to match the full width of "Fred Hutch"
- Removing the inner circles, or "dots", from the "H" icon oblongs for a cleaner look
Please delete and replace any out-of-date logos when you come across them, if possible. If you have further questions or need assistance, contact brand@fredhutch.org.
Departments, divisions, groups, services, studies, programs and collaborations at Fred Hutch are visually communicated using a typographic treatment called a sign post.
Sign posts are positioned in alignment with the Fred Hutch logo but are not locked up with it in a single piece of artwork. In this way, Fred Hutch is always understood to be the organization that the communication is coming from with a further layer of detail about the source being provided by the sign post.
